Singe

It means scorch. Scorch means not to burn completely like burning the ends of hair or the end of the wings of a bird getting burnt. In short it can be said to burn slightly.

e.g. My fingers got a singe while opening  the pressure cooker.

This means that my fingers got burnt slightly while opening the cooker.
