'Nomophobia' - Fear of being out of mobile contact
The term,
Nomophobia which is an abbreviation for
"NO-MObile-Phone PHOBIA” refers to a
person's fear of being out of his or her
mobile phone contact with friends, family, colleagues, customers etc.
The term also refers to addictive tendencies like, the fear of loosing one's phone, inability to ever turn one's phone off, uncontrollable checking for missed calls, emails and messages, constant topping up of phone's battery life, tendency to take the phone even to bathroom etc. Experts say it is the state of anxiety rather than fear.
The term
nomophobia was coined in 2008 and a
recent survey by U.K. based Internet
security and mobile technology firm SecurEnvoy revealed that 66% of the 1,000 survey respondents,
experienced nomophobia.

66% is a huge number. It means approx. 3/4th of the population are nomophobic !!!
