'tiger mother'

Tiger mother or  Tiger mom ( US) is a term used to denote an extremely strict mother whose predominant concern is that her children consistently achieve excellent scores in school.

In order to ensure such academic excellence she goes to the extent of restricting their free time and compels them  to engage in  study.

 The term became popular when it appeared in the book 'Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother ' written by Chinese-American Professor and Author Amy Chua  in 2011.
