Meaning of ‘bird’s eye view’


Bird’s eye view refers to the view as seen by a bird from the height while it is flying.

The phrase means viewing something from a height. We can also say an overview or an overhead view of something.

Example: “Google map gives a bird’s eye view of our village”.

The phrase is used to indicate an overall or superficial view of something as if the viewer were a bird.

Example: “We had a bird’s eye view of the cricket match from the adjacent building beside the stadium” * The building gave a bird’s eye view of the entire beach.
