‘Biography’, ‘autobiography’ and ‘biopic’
‘Biography’ means the written description (mostly in the form of a book) of facts and events of one’s life by another person. Autobiography is the depiction of such facts and events of one’s life by himself or herself.
‘The Story of My Experiments with Truth’ is the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi. Mother Teresa’s official biography was written by former Election Commissioner Navin Chawla.
‘Biopic’ is a movie made on the life of a real person. The word ‘biopic’ is derived by combining the words ‘bio’ (of biography or biographical) and ‘picture’.
‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ (Run, Milkha, Run) is a biopic by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra on the life of the great Indian athlete Milkha Singh.
