“I look forward to meet you” or “ I look forward to meeting you” – which is correct ?

“I look forward to meet you” or “ I look forward to meeting you” ; these two sentences are among the most common usages in formal letters. But which one is correct ?

The correct usage is “I look forward to meeting you”.

The verb that follows ‘Look forward to’ should always be the ‘-ing ’ form of the verb ( gerund).

For example, ‘going’, ‘working’ etc.

Examples:

“I look forward to meeting you in the hotel.”   *  “We look forward to going to Surat.” * "I look forward to working with you."
