“Celebrations brings everyone together.” Onam is my favorite festival which symbolize togetherness, equality, unity, prosperity etc... Irrespective of all religion, this festival is celebrated by everyone all over the world. Last time during Onam it was really fun playing with cousins because they had ten days holiday. On the first day of Onam – Atham we went for outing, purchased many things, purchased eatables, bought new dress for everyone, went for movie and many more….We made Pookalam which is known as floral decorations. After two to three days we all planned a stay tour to The Backwaters of Kerala –Alappuzha. We were very lucky to see Vellamkali – The Snake Boat Race. All the people in the boat were enthusiastically and energetically rowing boats singing in rhythmic tunes. That was a great treat for our eyes. We had delicious food from the house boat. And at last it was Tiruvonam, the most celebrated day during Onam. We did big floral patterns with our cousins. We were all happy wearing our new dress. Our grandfather also tied a big swing in the mango tree at the backyard of our house. Onamkalli which is known as Onam games are especially loved by children. Many games were held such as lemon spoon, music chair, and many more. We all had such great fun. I and my sister took part in everything and got prizes as well. Adults, children, everyone took part very enthusiastically. We all got a huge amount of money winning certain games.  After playing a lot we were all tired and went home sweating. Then the scent of delicious food prepared by the hands of our grandma was spellbound … We all sat in lines. On the banana leaves varieties of dishes were served. Many, many varieties of food were really mouthwatering. We all ate up everything as fast as possible and even asked for more….. At last Onam was over…

I wish this Onam would also be as joyful as the last time……..Wishing you all a happy Onam!!!!!
