Our country is our pride. A Fire will certainly ignite inside us at the thought of someone invading or claiming the prized locations of our nation. When I read about the Kargil Vijay Diwas the same feeling came to my mind like any other patriotic Indians.
The Kargil War was fought in 1999. The marred war officially came to an end on 26th July 1999 , after fighting for more than 60 days, from 3rd May to 26th July, 1999. Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated by India on the day the war ended as India regained control of the outposts and her lost territory. While we slept peacefully, snuggling down in the warmth of our homes, thousands of our brave, young soldiers fought with strength and valour at midnight at one of the highest altitude and conflict points of India. The war was won, but it left hundreds of casualties on both sides, as on our side we lost 527 innocent souls who could have lived a happy and joyful life instead of sacrificing themselves for their nation. On the 26th of July we hold in honour the brave and kind hearts who fought for our well-being.
On the 26th of July every year Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated at the Kargil war memorial as well as at the national capital New Delhi. The Prime Minister of India pays homage to the brave soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate. By evicting the intruders our soldiers succeeded in recapturing the tiger hills and other posts as a part of the operation Vijay launched by Indian Army. On the 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, our honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi reminded us that, “It’s our duty to remember the courage and determination of our armed forces, who steadfastly protected our nation in 1999. Their valour continues to inspire generations”
The Kargil War heroes who gave their life for their country and its people are a great inspiration for the coming generations. Our untroubled and peaceful life is the result of their utmost patriotic spirit and indomitable bravery. 26th July is dedicated to those brave heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to uphold and safeguard the integrity of our motherland. We must always remember those reverent soldiers who fought the legendary battle with much exemplary courage.
As students, let us hold them as our role models and be the next responsible citizens of India. On this memorable day which brought victory for India 21 years ago, let us observe one minute silence as a tribute for those gallant soldiers. As Indians, it is our duty to defend and fight for our nation whenever and wherever we can, like those millions who did the same for us.
