We, Indians celebrate Independence Day every year on August 15, to commemorate the freedom our forefathers gained for us from the British.
The history of India's long struggle for freedom can be traced back to the year 1857 when the first war of Independence happened. This was the first blow to Britain which had been ruling India ruthlessly since its decisive victory in the battle of Plassey in 1757.After the first battle of independence the tables began to turn in India's favour. Millions of Indians who had been treated as slaves till then started to become conscious of their national identity. In addition to this, several Indian intellectuals as well as political leaders began envisioning an India which was free from foreign oppression. Thus began the freedom movement. Later, the presence of leaders like Gandhiji, Nehru, Ambedkar and many more not only increased the pace of this movement but also catapulted it into international fame. The freedom struggle reached its culmination on 15th of August, 1947, when India became a free nation. As the citizens of this great nation, it is our duty to love our nation and to protect it from any threats. Let's cherish the freedom we have and continue to work for the peace and prosperity of our nation.
Long live India. Jai hind.
