Bandhur atmatmanas tasya yenatmaivatmana jitah, anatmanas tu satrutve vartetatmaiva satru-vat- verse from BhagavadGita
Meaning: For him who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends, but for one who has failed to do so, his mind will remain the greatest enemy.
The verse above says it all, as
we all know Mind is the creator and the destructor if we tame our minds with the right knowledge, It has the capacity to make the person worth million else make him worthless.
Our mind carries out various mental processes such as observing, knowing, thinking, reasoning, feeling, wishing, imagining, remembering, judging and others. Mind is the most powerful weapon one can posses , no one knows the boundaries or the restrictions that is holds . Having a strong mind means having the mental skills and physical capabilities to respond to and overcome any challenge. Someone with a strong mind is also a person who can be firm on his beliefs and is focused on growth, learning, and achievement.
Our mind grows just as our body grows. it gains more and more knowledge over the years . The mind is the underlying component of human intelligence, wherein it includes the acts of thinking, feeling and action, you will be surprised to know if you ask yourself the question, who is deeper sea or Mind…. The answer will be the mind as it has the capacity to engulf the sea. There are no boundaries for its capabilities to create and hold a variety and a large amount of information it is so capable that it can hold both the sky and one's self with ease.
And taking the quote from Marcus Aurelius:” You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”
So why should we mind our mind?? This is an ongoing debate we all face in our lives, should we treat our mind spiritually or intellectually?
We need to know that our mind has two aspects: spiritual and intellectual. However, intelligence can only be achieved if all the aspects of mind are functioning well. The intellectual mind is responsible for reasoning, judgment, analysis, calculation, ego, desire, etc.. It focuses on the physical world. Our mind is very superior because it is spiritual it engages in activities like creativity, intuition, and psychic abilities and it searches for the real purpose and communion with God. We should know that the two minds look at the world quite differently and dominance of the one over the other lead to the existence the creator. Here is why we need to balance and understand how we tame our minds.
Words from Chankaya: “No one can defeat a powerful mind
Our mind plays an important role in creating and visualization, we need to know our thoughts pass to other minds, and affect other people. And scientifically it is proved that repetitive thoughts form neural pathways, as the famous neuropsychologist Donald Hebb phrased “Neurons that fire together get wired together” which means When you repeat an experience over and over, the brain learns to trigger the same neurons each time.. Thus, the more a particular thought or belief is activated and reinforced, the stronger these neural pathways become and automatically becomes our "go to" pattern of perceiving or acceptance.
So always remember our mind is a very powerful thing, and most of us take it for granted. We believe we aren't in control of what we think because our thoughts seem to fly in and out all day long. But always remember you are in control of your thoughts, and you become what you think about. Once we start to take control of our thoughts we should train our mind by Accepting, Meditating, prioritizing, Positive thinking, Writing.
Borrowing the quotes from Gatam Buddha:“Your mind is a powerful thing. When you filter it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.”
