Once I was very sick. I was shivering with very high fever. My parents took me to the doctor. The doctor first gave me an injection, ooh! You can’t imagine how painful it was. I was hugging my mother and crying all the time. After sometime the fever came down, but I was admitted as the doctor had advised some tests. The nurse took my blood. I was scared if my blood would finish. Then the nurse told me that blood won’t get over so fast and that she took only a little of it! I hate injections! The test results came and it was found that I had typhoid. I was in the hospital for a week and I had to take rest for another three weeks. I hate the bitter medicines. I like tablets that can be swallowed with water, but we need to be careful, sometimes it gets stuck at the end of our tongue. It happened to me twice and that tasted bitter than the liquid medicine and both the times I vomited; by and by I learnt how to swallow tablets. Now whenever I fall sick, I tell the doctor to give me medicine that can be swallowed. While staying in the hospital for a week, I learnt some things which I would like to share with you. The most important thing is that we should take medicines only after seeing a doctor. Next, medicines should be taken on time, or the illness might get worse and we will have to take these medicines for a longer time, and we won’t be able to play. We should take medicines as the doctor recommends. Even if we have a slight cold we should not take medicines on our own. This can do us harm. Always remember the saying, “Prevention is better than cure.” So eat healthy food and stay healthy, if ever you fall sick go to the doctor as soon as possible.
