Respected Teachers and my dear Friends,
Good Morning to all
Today I would like to talk about one leader which inspired me the most. It’s none other than Subhash Chandra Bose.
Subhash Chandra Bose was a charismatic revolutionary leader who fought for the independence of India, especially outside the frontiers of India. During the eventful years of India’s freedom struggle, he proposed revolutionary ideas for India’s freedom which captured the imagination of millions of Indians both at home and abroad and redefined the concept of nationalism and patriotism. Because of his charismatic personality, dedication to the nation, leadership skills and revolutionary ideas ,he achieved a legendary status in India post-independence.
Subhash Chandra Bose was born on 23 January, 1897 in Cuttack to Janakinath Bose and Prabhavati Devi. After completing his graduation from the university of Calcutta , Bose went to England and matriculated from Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and cleared the Civil Services. But his patriotic nature and urge for participating in the freedom movement of his home country was so intense that in April 1921, Bose resigned from the coveted Indian Civil Service and came back to India. He joined the Indian national Congress started playing an active role in mobilizing the youth in Bengal and adjacent places. As different from the Gandhian Thoughts, Subhash Chandra Bose was a firm believer of the use of force against the oppressive regime of British. His ideas was so influential in congress to the extent that in 1939 he was elected president of congress again over Gandhi's preferred candidate Pattabhi Sitaramayya. However he soon resigned. He was strongly against supporting the British in World war two. In 1941 Subhash Chandra Bose went on an exile, escaping from a British House arrest .He traveled across the globe, sometimes through dangerous terrains and secretly started working on a plan to liberate India with the help of Japan and Germany. He started developing military plans and with the help of Rash Bihari Bose , headed the Indian National Army. He was warmly received in Japan and was declared the head of the Indian army, which consisted of about 40,000 soldiers from Singapore and other eastern regions. He also formed a provisional Government of Azad Hind. One of the INA armies wing advanced to Indian Frontiers. However, the movement lost its pace due to the surrender of Japan and many INA soldiers were captured as war prisoners. The relentless campaigns of Bose, and his non compromising stands and fights against British fueled the Indian freedom struggle and even inspired Mutiny with in Indian Armed forces and have certainly influenced the British decision to quit India.
Even though Subhash Chandra Bose still lives in the hearts of Millions of Indians, It’s Ironic that the story of one of India’s greatest son ends in mysterious and often debated circumstances around his disappearance resulting from a Plane Crash in Japan in 1945.
Leadership skills, dedication, devotion to country, Courage, ability to take risk and selfless nature is what makes a man a Leader and a Hero. Subhash Chandra Bose is definitely my Hero .
Thank you.
