“Paper has more patience than people.’’

Have you ever heard this funny but serious proverb? Well, if you haven’t, let me introduce you to Anne Frank, a   thirteen – year old girl who had jotted down these words in her diary. Anne Frank was a German – born Jewish girl with a family of four members. The Diary of a Young girl by Anne Frank is a beautifully written memoir of a young girl caught in the most horrific periods of history. First I got a chance to read an extract of this book. After that I was really longing to grab this book somehow. Finally I got it from my  sister, Annu .After grabbing my copy,I rushed to my bed, piled up some pillows behind my back, throw the blanket and cuddle up with my teddy  and then started exploring Anne’s diary.Just within a day I finished it! It was just inspiring!!! I don’t have any other words to describe this book

let me introduce you to Ann’s family.. Her Father was calm and friendly and she longed for his love and attention,  but her mother was annoying and irritating; she did not like her at all; She often mention that,   Margot, her sister was a genius, but she was the one who mostly made Anne  jealous and she thought that she herself made a lot of noise and bustle.

Now let’s get started. On June 12th 1942 it was Anns 13th birthday. Her diary was one of the gifts  she received . She was really excited but thought that nobody would want to read a 13 year old girl’s thoughts and feelings. Inspite of that she started writing and often said “I know that you are bored with my talk, kitty” [that’s how she addressed her diary]

Ann’s family moved from Germany  to Amsterdam to escape the persecutions they faced in Germany. Everything was going fine for Ann in Amsterdam. Every morning  was bright and clear, every afternoon was sunny and merry and every night was dark twinkling and beautiful. One Wednesday evening, when Anne was doing her homework peacefully Margot came running up to her and said that she got a call up from the SS. They know that  this will lead to persecution and torture .Anne was terrified at the thought of jail. But now you must be wondering why Anne got this call even though she was living in Amsterdam. That’s because a few Germans had invade into Amsterdam and started searching for Jews.

All of them were  really worried about the possibility of torture and persecution in German hands.  Margot informed Anne that their mother was going to talk with Vandaan. [A good friend of Anne’s father] about this situation. Then she rushed down. Until 5.30 Margot and Anne sat in their room very quietly. Soon it was decided that they should go for hiding. They packed their rucksacks fast and at 7.30 they closed their door behind them! No one bothered to tell Anne where they were going to hide, So she could not do anything, but follow them. When they were half way to the hiding spot, Anne’s father called her aside and told her that they were going to hide in his office building. The night passed and by the time they reached their destination, the sun was breaking in through the clouds. The moment they opened the door, Anne’s mom and Margot rushed upstairs chose rooms for themselves, arranged some chairs to make a bed and laid down, which continued for two more days. When Anne’s mother was able to get up she made some pea soup and that was what they could eat for four days. On the 5th day the Vandaans also joined them. Each day in the secret annexe, as Anne called that place, was very boring for her. Peter, Mr.Vandaan’s son only sat in his room all day long and came down only for breakfast, lunch and dinner and did not say a word except if somebody annoyed him. On the 17th of Nov 1942 one more person named Albert Dussel joined them. But Anne hardly minded him. Two years of poverty filled, miserable life passed like that. On the morning of Aug 4, 1944 a car pulled up right in front of the building. Several figures emerged out of it. They arrested the 8 people hiding in the annexe as well as took all the valuables and cash from that place. Margot and Anne were brought to Bergen Belsen, a concentration camp near Germany. The typhus epidemic that broke out there killed 1000 of prisoners including Margot and Anne. Anne’s father Otto Frank was the only one who survived. He arrived in Armsterdam on June 3rd 1945 and moved to Switzerland on 1953 and he married Elfriede Markovit Geiringer who had lost her husband and son.

What inspired me in this book was that every time she gets frustrated, it only lasted for few minutes and  she would gather all her courage and stand up in front of all the others like a leader. She is invisibly passing a great inspiration to the readers how to overcome the difficulties in our life.

So, friends think about our current situation. Anne’s was much worse. Even if she opened the door, she found people battling each other. If she can sit inside a building for 2 years then why can’t we?????It’s just for a few days or months. So, let’s STAY AT HOME, BE SAFE and wait while Scientists/Doctors find out ways to sweep out the dangerous COVID-19 from the universe.

Birthdays are one of the most special days in our lives. Now, here is how I celebrated my birthday.

It was a winter morning. There was cool breeze knocking the window. I could hear the birds chirping outside. Everything was so nice. Just then, I sprang out of my bed shouting ‘IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!’ Actually speaking, I am a kind of person who is really excited on these special days, be it mine, my friends or my parent’s birthday. I am always excited. Even on special days like Republic day, Independence Day etc. I always start making plans for the day. Now where was I? Oh yes…..so I was shouting and it was so loud that it made my parents come up to my bedroom and ask what happened? Seriously? It was my birthday come on…… no one seemed to notice. No one even wished me. I was really sad. But no worries, maybe another surprise was waiting for me down stairs.

I freshened up and went down thinking that there would be some surprise awaiting me. But….Nah! There was nothing. Even my parents were not there. But this wasn’t fair. They should have planned something. Well, I thought that they must be busy. As I sat down for breakfast, there was a sound…..BANG! It was so loud that it made me jump out of my chair. It was a musical band and there was a singer who sang ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY.’ It was so surprising that my eyes nearly popped out of my sockets! So after all there was a surprise planned. After the singer had finished singing, in came two gentlemen with two big baskets. It was covered with a brown paper. I opened it and there were loads and loads of gifts. This surprise was from my grandparents. I started to unwrap them. Well I must say I did get a whole lot of gifts. But wait….where were my parents? I was so busy unwrapping my gifts and listening to the band that I had forgotten about my parents!

hey were no where to be seen. I ran upstairs and there I saw my father. He was holding two big sets of books. Well, you know I am a book lover and I have great fascination towards them. I even have a mini library in my house. So, getting two big sets of story books meant a whole lot to me. All my sadness had vanished. Now where was my mom? I ran downstairs to check if she was there. Oh yes! She was there in the kitchen with a big plate and guess what? It was my special birthday cake. I made a wish, blew the candles and then cut the cake. Just then, the door bell rang……who could it be? The musical band was here, the gentlemen who had brought the gifts were here and my parents were here, so who could it possibly be? Anyway, I ran to open the door, and you know who it was? My 2 besties Ann and Malavika. Now I was super-duper happy.

My mother had prepared lunch. She had made varieties of pastas, sandwiches, biriyani and sweets. It was a sumptuous meal. I then opened the gifts my friends had bought for me. I got a giant teddy and a pretty new dress. Then we went to play. We played musical chairs, hide and seek and of course we had a lot to talk. We then ate the snacks my mom had prepared. It was a fun filled day. Then it was evening and time to bid my friends goodbye.

It was a really good and eventful day. I then had my dinner which was specially prepared for me. Everything was just the way I wanted. I thanked god for blessing me with such good parents and friends. It was indeed a fun packed day. I enjoyed it. It was my best birthday ever!

I am sure that all of you know that relaxation or leisure is something really important in life. So after my exams in April, to enjoy and to wash out all the tension I had taken, and of course to relax, my family planned to go to the ‘BEACH.’

Now this happens to be on a super sunny Saturday morning. I woke up with a glee on my face. It was very hot outside. And you know what, it was my first free Saturday after exams! I was super excited. Because we were going to the beach! I just jumped out of my bed, went to freshen up, gobbled up my food, changed my dress and there I was ready! As soon as my father told me to pack, I rushed to my bedroom and took a big black bag and put in all the stuff I would need, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and an extra pair of slippers (in case mine got dirty while playing in the beach)

I was all set. My parents and my sister were also ready. Then what was there to wait? I hurried to the door. I was in such a hurry that it made my mom say ‘NADIA SLOW DOWN!’ We were finally in the car and there we went VROOOM……. We were about to reach when my father received a call saying that there was an emergency. He was doctor, you know. So we had to turn the car and go to the hospital. The whole incident had just pricked my balloon of enthusiasm. I was very sad. But I understood that it must be important for my father. As we were about to reach, my father received a call from the hospital saying that the patient was stable now and that there was no need to come. So we turned our car back to the beach. And finally we reached.

Ahhh….it felt so nice. The whole incident had made me feel so dizzy, that I fell straight on to the sand lying under sun’s scorching heat. After taking rest for a while, I and my sister went to play in the sea. The sea waves splashed on to my legs. It actually reached up to my knees. It was super fun. And then I and my sister were feeling hungry and it was almost time for lunch. So we went with our parents to the nearby ‘BEACH RESTAURANT.’

There were wooden chairs all around. And…..Aha! There I spotted a table for four. I ran and caught the table. We were all seated. And now came the best part ‘ordering food.’ We had decided to keep our lunch light. Instead of the daily rice and sambar, we thought to eat sandwiches. I ordered a double cheese vegetable sandwich, a mango ice lolly and a fresh orange juice, PERFECT! We got the food after waiting for 15 minutes. As I was feeling very hungry I ate it to my heart’s content. After food we again went to the beach. I and my sister played in the sea, took some rest, ate our snacks and played some games. Then it was time to go back home. It was almost evening and it was getting dark, so I bid goodbye to the beach, sat in the car and there I was going back home.

As I entered my home with my sand covered feet, I felt happy and I knew that I would never forget this memorable day. The way I enjoyed, the food I ate and of course all those funny incidents. Everything was so perfect! It was as if a dream came true. It was just the best feeling and I just loved the day. I will never forget this memorable day.

My name is XXXX, and I am fourteen years old. My life as a teenager is like a roller coaster ride. It’s very happening, lively and joyful. But on the other hand it’s confusing and very demanding too. I am neither a child nor an adult anymore. They call us adolescents.

Me being a teenager
My school is the place where I enjoy a lot with my friends.  These days I feel my friends can understand me more than my parents. My parents say that I am not a kid anymore and want me to behave like a grown up. But they themselves treat me like a kid, advising me in each and everything I do. I need some space, and I want them to believe in me fully. It is really confusing to when to behave like a child and when not to.
I enjoy spending time in front of the mirror, worrying more about my looks. My friend’s views mean a lot to me these days. I feel more comfortable discussing my physical and psychological changes that I am going through with my friends. It gives me a little fear when I think that this is the time to decide about my future. In few more years, I will become major and will have the right to vote.

I am eager to cast my vote in the coming elections. I have already started to learn driving. Four more years and I would get my driving license. Then I wouldn’t depend on my parents to go anywhere. These days I have started to watch news channels to know the current affairs. I am given the option of choosing the career which i wish to pursue. There are many distractions available but I don’t want to get diverted from my goal.

Conclusion:-
As a teenager, i find it difficult to differentiate between friendship, love and infatuation. At times like that my parents give me friendly guidance. I don’t want to make any serious mistakes, for which I would have to regret in my future. I am enjoying the sweet days of my teen, which I know am going to cherish and relish in my old age.

Introduction:
The person i admire the most is Dr. APJ. Abdul Kalaam.  He was born on 15th October 1931, in a poor muslim family at Rameshwaram. He had three brothers and one sister. At  very young age, out of his own will, he worked as a paper boy, to support  the financial needs of his family. He completed his schooling and graduation at Trichy.  He passed out as an aeronautical engineer from MIT. Even though he couldn’t pursue his dream career of becoming pilot, he went on to design aircrafts. He then joined ISRO and played a vital role in sending many satellites to space. Considering his service he is called the missile man of India. He was elected as 11th president of India. He lived by his words and hence became a great mentor for all the youth.

The man of virtues:
He spent his whole life for the uplifement of the nation. His life is an open book for us to learn a lot of good things. Dr. Abdul Kalaam once said that he loved being a teacher rather than being a scientist or the president. He did his best in every field he pursued. His dedication towards work and his  strong will power are the two things that has made him great. He strongly believed that youth are the greatest strength of India. He said every child should dream for the betterment and never should give up at any cost..
Once when Abdul kalaam was asked which of his inventions has made him proud.  The answer that he gave is by far the best one ever.  The cost effective and weightless plastic,  used in making prosthetic limbs for the handicapped kids, was invented by him, which he feels is the best among all his inventions.

Conclusion:
Such simple and noble were his thoughts, that he believed youth alone, with their strong determination can remove corruption fully.  He loved interacting with students. He passed away while giving lecture to students. He was truly a man of virtues,  still inspiring many more lives.

My favourite teacher is Mrs.  Leena George, our mathematics teacher. Mrs. George is a highly experienced maths teacher , she has been teaching mathematics in our school for the last twenty five years.  Mrs. Geoge is the Vice principal of our school. Besides being an outstanding maths teacher , she is an excellent administrator. Our maths teacher is very strict when it comes to discipline and studies, on the other hand she is extremely friendly with the parents. Mrs. George is very popular for her co-operative nature , no student returns empty handed from her when they need help.

Our mathematics teacher is absolutely thorough with her subject. She makes mathematics simple for all of us, no matter how difficult the problems are. Mrs. George makes sure that all the students get equal attention. She takes special care of the weak ones. If any student requires help regarding her subject , she provides them with extra class after school. When it comes to homework or classwork, she is very strict. Anybody attending her class with homework undone is bound to be punished. Punishment means staying back after school and completing the unfinished homework. Therefore none of us dare to be inattentive in her class, or attend her class with unfinished task. We simply cannot deny the fact that it is because of Mrs. George that we all come out with flying colours at the end of the year.

Mrs. George , being the Vice principal of the school, looks after the administration very efficiently. Discipline is her first priority. In chapel, she teaches us how to lead a disciplined life, how to be successful in life, how to overcome hurdles or obstacles and reach our goals in life. She is an outstanding organiser. Our teacher organises  all  the events  like sports, concerts, fests, fair etc. very capably. She encourages all the students to participate in all the events. Besides being a good teacher and a good administrator , she is an excellent pianist and a wonderful singer. Mrs. George always stresses on students’ involvement in co-curricullar  activities.

Mrs. George is tall and healthy, and her complexion is wheatish. She is always seen dressed up in simple attire. Her dignified appearance and strong personality makes her look very stern outwardly. Mrs. George is extremely dedicated towards her profession.  Her compassion for the students is noteworthy, in school she is almost like a mother to all the students. Mrs. George is my idol, my inspiration. She is a perfect example of simple living and high thinking. We all love her and respect her from the very bottom of our heart. One just cannot expect a better teacher than Mrs. George.
